28 Feb HELMET MUSE: king karl
Well, this is definitely the saddest Muse post we have had to write at Helmet Hair Co. It’s the end of an era with the passing of the one and only Karl Lagerfeld. The word muse gets thrown around a lot but no one deserves it more than this incredible man who has had the hugest impact on the world of fashion and beauty, right down to the best salon near you.
Here is a little bit more about this enigmatic figure;
> He was born in Germany but lived most of his life in Paris
> He was a creative director, fashion designer, film director, artist photographer and caricaturist among many other hobbies and pursuits.
> His most beloved female was not a person, but rather his adored cat Choupette. This pampered cat has two maids, an ipad, eats dinner at the table, has her own Instagram account and is reportedly set to inherit some of Karl’s estate.
> His tenure at Chanel commenced in 1983 when Chancel was considered a “near-dead brand” and he completely revolutionised it.
> He was known for lying about his age – trying to claim he was younger than he actually was!
> His comments about weight have been mired in controversy and he himself lost 42kg in 13 months in order to wear clothes designed by Hedi Slimane.
But it will always be the magic her created on the runways that will be his true legacy. Whether it was covetable looks for ready to wear or the intricate and magical spectacles for couture, there have been very few of us who haven’t coveted an item with the double C’s. over his career he worked with Balmain, Jean Patou, Chloe, Charles Jourdan and Valentino before playing his key roles at Chanel and Fendi.
Here at the best hair salon in Nundah, we were all obsessed with Karl’s designs and the way he created the most amazing hair and make-up looks for his campaigns and shows. He was a true trend setter and some of the best cuts, best colors and best styles we have created in our Brisbane salon were thanks to a little bit of Karl influence.
We will leave the final word to Anna Wintour;
“Karl was so much more than out greatest and most prolific designer- his creative genious was breathtaking and to be his friend was an exceptional gift. Karl was brilliant, he was wicked, he was funny, he was generous beyond measure and he was deeply kind. I will miss him so very much.”
